Sergei Kompaniychenko

 

- a member of the Union of Russia’s Photography Artists, of the Union of Russia’s Journalists and of International Union of Artists (IFA).
 
Was born in the town of Stanislav (Ivano-Frankovsk since 1962) in the Ukraine in 1953.

Kompaniychenko graduated from the Construction and Civil Engineering Institute of Leningrad in 1976. He worked for fourteen years in the construction industry in Leningrad and the Leningrad Region.

Since 1990 he has been a photo correspondent of APN (Press News Agency) and RIA Novosti (News Russian Information Agency).

He is He has to his credit two own published photo art books devoted to the revival of the Valaam Monastery: Valaam (1996) and Valaam Monastery (2004). Kompaniychenko has been awarded the prize of the Union of Russia’s Journalists twice (in 1993 and 1995), was acknowledged St. Petersburg photo reporter of 1995 and has been awarded the highest national award in the field of photography, The Gold Eye of Russia of 2006, by the Guild of Professional Photographers of Russia’s Mass Media.
