Apollinariya Mishina

Apollinariya Mishina

I was born in the town of Sverdlovsk in 1987. My parents, art critics by education, are both artistically minded people. We have lived in St Petersburg since 1998. My father, Andrey Mishin, is a sculptor, and my mother is an ethnographer. It is not surprising, therefore, that I chose an artistic profession, too. My areas of professional interest are print graphics (I prefer etching and colour lithography), artistic font design and book illustration. What I particularly enjoy is work of authorship, where the designer is fully responsible for the layout, cover design, print design and illustrations. Such were my projects Letters to a Roman Friend by Joseph Brodsky (a total of 20 copies), Seal Skin by Clarissa Pincola Estes (a total of 13 copies), and The Guide by Ilya Knabengof, leader of the Pilot band (one copy). I was graduated from the Easel Graphics Department of the Decorative Art Institute (headed by O. Yu. Yakhnin, who holds the honorary title of the Merited Artist of Russia). As of today, I have participated in a dozen local and national exhibitions and 5 international graphic art biennales abroad (WAD Holland, 2006; 1st International Engraving Biennale in Istanbul, Turkey, 2008, etc. In 2007 I won the 2nd prize in the Third International Graphic Art Festival in St. Petersburg.
My works have entered the Unech Picture Gallery and private collections in Russia (those of Tatiana Basova in Moscow and Nikolay Blagodatov, Andrey Stolypin and Vladimir Peshkov in St. Petersburg), Turkey, Germany and the USA.
